Are you Orthodox?

No — and this is worth saying plainly, because many people searching for a Russian church in Los Angeles are looking for a Russian Orthodox parish.

We are a Protestant church, part of The Assemblies of God, one of the largest Protestant fellowships in the world. If you are looking specifically for an Orthodox service, this is not the place — and we would rather you know that before driving across the Valley.

If you are simply looking for a church where people speak Russian, read the Bible together and pray for one another, you are welcome here. What we believe is set out in full on our page «Во что мы верим» (in Russian).

What language are services in?

Services are conducted in Russian. Most of the congregation are Russian-speaking families from across the former Soviet Union — Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan and elsewhere.

Many of our younger members grew up in the United States and speak English as their first language. If you speak English and Russian is difficult for you, come anyway and say so — someone will sit with you and help you follow along.

What we do beyond Sunday

Two of our ministries reach well past the congregation itself:

Recovery ministry for addiction. Meetings for people struggling with chemical dependency are held every Monday. This work has been going on for years, and it is open to anyone who needs it, church member or not. More about this ministry.

Law enforcement chaplaincy. Our pastor, Oleg Gulin, serves as a chaplain with a Los Angeles police special operations unit and has helped develop training for chaplains serving alongside officers. More about the chaplaincy.

We also run a children’s ministry, a youth ministry, a Bible institute, and a missionary ministry supporting work abroad.

Coming for the first time

There is nothing you need to bring, sign, or know beforehand. Come as you are, sit wherever you like, and leave whenever you need to. Nobody will single you out or ask you to speak.

If you would prefer to reach out before visiting, or if you would like someone to pray for you, write to us — we read every message.
